There’s something about food from a food truck that’s just so tasty. Maybe because it’s fresh, maybe because it’s special, or maybe it’s just kinda cool. We’ve been working with Dan & Lindsay Gearig, owners of the popular El Guapo Grill and Mac Shack trucks, to bring that deliciousness to you because we think everyone should get excited about food trucks. (We also wanted to keep eating yummy food while it’s cold outside.)
El Guapo Grill
Admittedly, there are a ton of options for Mexican food in Detroit, especially if you drive into the southwestern part of town. But what happens when you mix some international flavor into your tortilla? You get Mexican fusion food from El Guapo Grill, the first licensed food truck in Detroit. Just say the word, and burritos will end up at your door. Burrito filling choices include spicy pork chorizo, marinated tofu, grilled veggies, homemade guacamole, and more. For an extra kick, grab a side of ginger habanero sauce. Or if tacos are more your thing, settle for a taco bar with adobo chicken and braised beef brisket. We don’t like to choose, so we usually just order everything with an extra helping of Mexican chocolate chunk cookies.
If spicy is not really your thing but creamy comfort food is, you’ll adore Mac Shack’s menu. Their Mac n Cheese Bar comes with toppings like buffalo chicken, wild mushrooms, and more. You can play around making cheesy creations like one of their popular menu items “the bacon made me do it!” (applewood bacon, fresh tomatoes, and green onions) or keep it simple with the original shack-made 5 cheese blend. Either way is guaranteed to fill you up. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
