Working at a company called foodjunky, it’s no surprise we like food. Which is why we decided to turn one of our favorite holidays, March 14th, better known as “Pi Day”, into Pie a Founder, a day to eat and throw pies for charity! In order to raise funds and also have a little fun, we rounded up the founders of 12 different companies in Detroit that were willing to take pies to the face for a small donation to benefit Gleaner’s Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.
Pie a Founder(s)
Our Pie a Founder participants came from Guidesmob, SunDaily, Chalkfly, backstitch, WaitTime, LevelEleven, Wedit, Locqus, iRule, Bizdom, TernPro, and foodjunky. Special thanks to TernPro for taking video, Fathead for providing our banners, and Grand Circus for letting us throw pies in their space! We definitely couldn’t have pulled together “Pie a Founder” in under a week without all the support.
What would a Pi Day event be without pie? Special thanks go to Maccabees at Midtown and Bizdom for providing lunch and Gateway Deli for donating the apple, cherry, blueberry, and peach pies for dessert.
Over the course of an hour and a half, hundreds attended and threw pies. (To see more of the action, check out the official backstitch feed for #PieAFounder.) We’re happy to announce we raised over $500 in donations towards Gleaners. We hope to partner with Gleaners again next year for Pie a Founder on 3.14.15!
